Board of Directors

DESCRIPTION OF OUR BOARD

The Board of Directors is comprised of up to 20 members who live or work in one of the communities we serve. Each member offers the agency unique experience and skills. The term of office is three years, and no more than two consecutive terms may be served. During their tenure on the board, members must serve on at least two committees.

Board members are appointed to committees based on their talents, capacities, and interests. Board members often begin their relationship with Family Service as committee volunteers prior to their appointment, and continue to serve as volunteers once their term limit has been reached.

This is a working board. We are proud of the level of commitment of each of our board members. Their efforts directly support the agency's successes, from day-to-day financial and human resource direction to program assessment and long-term strategic planning.

Board meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30 am at the Ray A. Kroc Center for Family Service in Oak Park. In an effort to respect the business and personal obligations of the Board, these meetings adjourn at 9:00 am. Agendas include motions to be voted upon, reports from Committee Chairs, the President/CEO, and the Board Chair. Often there is a staff presentation on a program or service being offered at the agency.

COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS

The villages of Oak Park and River Forest possess an unlimited resource-intelligent, dedicated, creative, hard-working and caring individuals. As a community-based behavioral healthcare organization, Family Service relies on the generosity of these individuals to donate their time and talent to our hands-on committees. Our volunteers represent a variety of ages and backgrounds.

They are doctors, writers, full-time parents, bankers, teachers, healthcare providers, and a variety of other professions that lend diversity to our community. There are hundreds of ways to help, and even the smallest investment of time is valuable.
