Special AnnouincementFamily Service is an important community organization that provides essential programs and services. Jay and I have been supporters of the agency for many years and are very pleased to provide this challenge grant,” stated Doris Christopher.

Not-for-profit organizations must rely on a variety of sources for funding, including government grants, gifts from individuals, corporate and private foundations and community organizations,” said Daniel J. Kill, President/CEO of Family Service. Kill further comments, "As Family Service looks to the future, the need to have predictable, annual revenue to support new and enhanced program initiatives will be critical. An endowment fund creates the opportunity to fund quality programs and services addressing changing community needs.”

Family Service headquarters,120 S. Marion Street, Oak Park, Illinois.Chaired by former board presidents and River Forest residents Rev. F. Dean Lueking and Janice Pyrce along with board director and former Oak Park resident Brenda Grusecki, the funds generated are designed to provide support of three critical areas of activity. These include expanding comprehensive psychological assessment services for at-risk youth, re-designing its senior services program to expand inhome mental heath counseling, and increasing the general capacity of the agency.

According to campaign cochair Brenda Grusecki, the agency is hoping to generate the remaining $100,000 by June 30, 2008. “We are extremely proud of the community at large for taking steps to ensure the long-term stability of this vital organization,” states Brenda. “With the one-to-one match, individuals attending the upcoming receptions, those responding to special appeals, and our friends and neighbors, can double their efforts thanks to the gift by the Christophers.” If you would like to make a donation or learn more information about the campaign or services provided by the agency, please contact Denise Stennis at 708.383.7500.
