Family Service Honors Community Partners at 109th Annual Meeting The board and staff of Family Service & Mental Health Center of Oak Park & River Forest honored community partners at the agency’s 109th Annual Meeting on November 7, held at Holley Court Terrace in Oak Park. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for Family Service to share the achievements of the past year, celebrate the individuals and organizations that provide vital support to the agency, and look ahead to the coming year.
Joining the board for 2007-2010 are Yvette Bouchard, John Poplett, Elizabeth “Betsy” Ritzman.
Continuing as members of the board of directors are; Gary Collins, River Forest resident and Vice Chairman, Managing Director of Private Bank and Trust Co.; Morris Goldman, MD, Oak Park resident and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Chicago; Brenda Grusecki, former chair of the English Division at Oak Park and River Forest High School; Steve Perkins, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust; Anthony Ruggiero, real estate investor and member of the Oak Park Chamber of Commerce; Barbara Uniek, Retired Rehabilitation Counselor; and Wendy White, president and founder of Siren Interactive Corporation. Continuing on the honorary board are Doris Christopher, Rev. F. Dean Lueking, Mrs. Ray E. Poplett and Sherlynn Reid. Retiring from board director roles are Oak Park resident Michael Lennox, president and owner of Morlen Realty Corporation and member of the Executive, Endowment Steering, Building and Finance committees; Deborah Braxton, Marketing Consultant; John McIlwain, Realtor; Jackie Moore, Independent Consultant; and Georgeen Polyak, Oak Park Director of Public Health. The Annual Meeting is also an opportunity for Family Service to recognize those who have contributed to the advancement of mental wellness in our communities. Todd Schneider, Chief Accounting Officer, Park National Bank, was presented the 2007 Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of the commitment and dedication he has shown in supporting the mission of Family Service. Over the past 11 years, Todd has volunteered his services as a Board Treasurer and Finance Committee member. The 2007 Community Partnership Award was accepted on behalf of the Community Mental Health Board, Town of Oak Park, by Executive Director Lydia Tuck, and on behalf of the Oak Park Township, by Supervisor David Boulinger. The 2007 Friends of Family Service Award was presented to Marvin Abrahamson for his many years of commitment to Family Service, and Chris Occhipinti, Artistic Director for the Village Players, for their assistance with Family Service’s winter event, Favorites from the Silver Screen. The 2007 Legislator of the Year Award was presented to Rep. Karen Yarbrough for her dedication and advocacy of providing affordable mental health programs, including Family Service’s older adult home-based counseling program.
